This service was initially set up as a quick way for a media geek like myself to raise funds for RSPCA Danaher in Wethersfield, Essex when COVID hit in 2020. I'm not running a marathon any time soon - but I've been doing media stuff professionally for decades, so this seemed like a good idea. I thought I'd raise a few hundred quid tops...nearly fell over when we reached £1K, let alone the current total. 

Even though things have thankfully returned to some semblance of normality, animal charities still need every penny they can get, especailly in the current economic climate. In fact, with the cost of living going through the roof, they are under pressure not only from cost increases, but from a massive influx of animals needing to be rehomed as their owners make what is a heartbreaking choice.

So, a proportion of the proceeds from this service to Danaher, Friends of Felines and similar local animal rescue charities, to help the kitties, doggos, bunbuns and the other animals.* If you have a strong preference just let me know, otherwise I'll choose whichever charity seems to be in the most need at the time. 

You get to watch your tapes again. The charities get much needed donations.

*Small disclaimer. As I'm sure you'll appreciate, the gear isn't getting any newer (no-one has made a VCR for over a decade now for example) and things have a nasty tendancy to wear out. A bit like me really! So if I have to replace anything that has broken past repair, I reserve the right to use a proportion of any new donations to help with the bill. Also, I'm happy to donate my time to run the site and do all the conversions, but I can't afford to be out of pocket in the process. So I will cover the cost of the website domain (about £12 a year) and a  the webhosting costs (approx £230 total yearly hosting cost) from tape conversions, otherwise the service just isn't sustainable. Also, it helps Friends of Felines, Toebeans and other animal charities directly, as I run their websites and host them on my server for free.
